Ms Sanghamitra Dixit
Hi! My name is Sanghamitra Dixit (she/her). I hold a Master’s degree from Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Applied Psychology (Specialization in Counselling Psychology), and I am eager to explore who I am as a mental health professional. I have also done my Bachelors in Applied Psychology from the University of Delhi. I specialise in working with adolescents and young adults with concerns related to anxiety, self-esteem, self-image, management of mood and emotional dysregulation, workplace anxiety, couples counselling and marital discord. Some of the areas I have explored include children with special needs, child sexual abuse, domestic violence and corporate mental health.
I apply a trauma-informed lens to my cases and follow an eclectic school of thought as each person is a unique individual— and so, their sessions must be as unique as them. An eclectic approach borrows from various therapeutic schools and designs an approach that suits the client. Hence, it is adjustable and open to exploration. My primary aim with my clients is to create a safe space to work with them and make them feel heard. I wish to understand people both from their individual circumstances and their cultural contexts, and to find the common point of balance in between. My areas of interest are in decolonizing therapy, studying the mind-body connection and perceiving mental health from a socio-cultural perspective.
Apart from my passion for mental health, some of my interests and hobbies include reading (both fictional and non-fictional!), writing (a little hesitant towards poetry, however) and connecting life metaphors to nature. My writing reflects this and I have a writing page to muse upon some of my thoughts. I also engage in self-reflection while losing myself to music and endlessly scroll through Pinterest and make aesthetic mood-boards for every topic which interests me— the list goes on and so does my life!
